Valentine's Day Gifts for your Favorite Fitness Minded Female

I realize that Valentine's Day is Friday but let's be honest, most men wait til the last minute to pick out gifts for their sweetie.  I know this, I've worked retail for six years.

I could care less about flowers and chocolates. Buy my a tub of protein or a new sports bra darn it!  Something I can actually use and won't go straight to my hips.  Are you with me?  By the way, I don't have a romantic bone in my body.  Just in case you couldn't tell.

If your partner needs a list of what to buy ahem, some suggestions send him my top picks for Valentine's Day gifts for the fitness minded female.

I should also encourage the gift givers reading this to be SURE that your lady friend is in fact interested in fitness.  Handing over a workout inspired gift could totally
backfire if you're not on the same page.  :)

Pull-overs, sweatshirts & hoodies ($20-$80): I don't care if you're a runner, powerlifter or a group fitness fanatic chances are you wear a pull-over, sweatshirt or a hoodie to and from the gym most months out of the year.  The adorable orchid (Pantone's color of the season by the way) pictured above is a Nike Racer Dri-FIT Half-Zip Running Jacket.

Water bottles ($5-$20): In my opinion you can never have too many water bottles.  They get left behind at the gym, lost in the car for weeks with your leftover protein shake, and eaten up in the dish washer.  Besides who actually wants to wash and rewash the same one every day?  This gift itself may not seem like much but pack a Dick's Sporting Goods or massage gift card in there and BAM! Now that's a gift I'd love to get!

Headphones or ear buds ($20-$100): Similar to water bottles you can never have enough headphones.  Stash them in your gym bag, car, purse, diaper bag...pretty much where ever you need to keep a set to avoid that God awful situation of having no music for cardio.  I'd do anything to avoid hearing myself gasping for air when running sprints.  If your hunny has the money to drop on a nice set these BEATS BY DRE Nicki Minaj urBeats Earphones are pretty awesome and are suppose to have amazing sound quality.

GYMBOSS Interval Timer ($20): Just in case you missed my GYMBOSS timer review a few weeks ago, check it out here.  It's perfect for speed work, HIIT, circuit, and aerobic intervals.

Quest Bars ($3):  Oh, you thought I was kidding about giving me protein for a Valentine's Day gift?  No, no I wasn't.  For me, these would make the perfect indulgent treat instead of a box of chocolates I'd feel guilty over later.  Add one or two of these in with your package or heck, buy her a whole box!  She'll love you for it!

New Tennis Shoes ($50-$150): What's better then a new pair of shoes?  Anything?  I can't think of anything.  I love the Nike Free TR Fit's above for circuit and cardio and they come in really cute color's and patterns.

Foam Roller ($10-$40):  If you don't have one, you need one.  If you don't know how to use it read this.  I can't say enough about foam roller to help your body prepare for your workout (regardless if you're running or lifting) as well as help it recover.  Think of it as a "poor man's massage".  Tightness in your hammies?  Try foam rolling.  Pain in IT band from running?  Foam roll it.  I really like the basic high density foam rollers like the one pictured above and they even come in pink!

Your turn: What fitness/workout related gift would you add to the list for Valentine's Day?

  1. This is a great list! I would also add the Garmin 620 the newest of their watches. I'm hoping if I bug my hubby enough he will just get sick of hearing about it and just buy it for me :) We will see!
